Spirit and politics can have a seat at the table. By disrupting dogmas and form, spirit becomes a unifying space, synonymous with people’s values. Spirit is a force. A force for good. A force for protection. Spirit is a tool. A quieting space. A space to go inside. An invitation to slow down. Spirit is another way to take care and another domain for the practice of freedom.
In Context: Spirit once was centered for all, but now finds itself on the fringes. In the global north, it’s all but drowned out in our attention economy. Spirit has always been a call to remember. We now have access to the great archives of humanity, and many of the ways spirit has been related to by our fellow humans. Remember when things were sacred. Remember your ancestors. Remember when every decision considered its impact on the next seven generations. Listen to the ancients, make space for the omitted. Listen to the conduits of spirit, the poets and artists, as they’ve always been here to form words for the unknowable, shaping language and movements.
In Practice: Quiet brings spirit leaders to the table, providing a different energy to go off of. Prayers in meetings, cultures of praying together, listening to each other's deepest concerns, breathing and slowing down, all in an effort to make space. Quiet brings artists into closer contact with spirit by making space for artists and activators to share stories and traditions that help folks get closer to the source. Sometimes it’s through getting out into nature together, or simply through listening, to help artists get out of their heads. Within Quiet, spirit is a tool for orienting towards something bigger than self.

How does a community of artists shift culture?
To shift a culture dominated by financial, political, and social power inaccessible by many, we need a new medium of exchange that cannot be owned by individuals. A currency that expands by giving. We call it cultural currency. It is a currency that disrupts and transforms by elevating consciousness and building community.
Cultural currency allows us to find abundance where others see scarcity, to grow in the face of financial limitations. This is a creative antidote to the social, political, and humanitarian challenges of our time.
Throughout our learning journey, we found that there are five core cultural currencies that Quiet exchanges within our community and that continue to ripple outward:

Care is making space for folks to heal. Care is giving more than taking. Care is how you direct your energy, thoughts, prayers. Care is how you show up.
